I didn’t know Caitlin and Calvin all that well when they first reached out about having me capture their wedding — but after spending just one day with them, I completely understood why everyone who meets them becomes an instant friend. They radiate warmth and joy in a way that’s contagious; their laughter and those bright, genuine smiles make you feel like you’ve known them forever.
Their wedding was an intimate mountain celebration surrounded by their closest family and friends near Sacramento. Hidden behind Lake Clementine, the Mountain Shadows Retreat in Foresthill, California overlooks a breathtaking valley tucked between the NorCal mountain ranges. The views were absolutely stunning, and the venue fit right into the landscape — it felt like the mountains themselves were part of the celebration.
Caitlin and Calvin turned their wedding weekend into a laid-back getaway filled with laughter, love, and connection. Everyone stayed on the property for the entire weekend which created the most relaxed, intimate atmosphere for everyone to fully enjoy the moment. They thought of everything — even bringing in a caricature artist to draw portraits of all their guests (and yes, I got one too!). Mine now hangs in my office, a daily reminder of not only their beautiful day but also the friendship that grew from it.
